England have parked their Ashes disaster from earlier this year, claiming a tense T20 victory at Optus Stadium in Perth. Australia required 16 from Sam Curran’s final over, but fell eight runs short in their pursuit of England’s 6-208. Matthew Wade’s (21 off 15) dismissal in the final over all but sealed the victory for England, with the wicket-keeper not able to see Australia home like he has so often in recent years. It came after David Warner smashed 73 to give Australia hope of chasing down the monster score. AUS VS ENG matches are always special and entertaining for the fans.
The victory saw England take a 1-0 lead in the best of AUS VS ENG three match- series, with the final two matches to be played in Canberra in what shapes as the last opportunity for both nations to iron out their best XI ahead of the World Cup. Yet, it was the decision not to give Wade out for obstructing the field when on zero that had many confused. Wade top edged a bouncer from Mark Wood, which hit some of his helmet on the way up, before he ran around on the spot confused where the ball was and ended up stopping the bowler from making a play at the ball by putting out his arm.
Wicket-keeper and captain Jos Buttler was asked whether he wanted to appeal, but chose not to despite replays painting an ugly picture for Wade, who was somewhat disorientated after the bouncer. Buttler later admitted had the match been a World Cup one, he would likely have chosen a different decision. “They asked if I wanted to appeal, but I thought we’re here for a long time in AUS VE ENG Match – it would be a risky one to go for so early in the trip,” he said. Australia needed more than 10 runs an over after their reserve bowlers were belted by England’s opening duo.
Sent in by Finch, opening duo Buttler and Alex Hales put on a first-wicket stand of 132, before the former fell for 68 as Nathan Ellis broke through.Ellis was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-20 from four overs including 2-1 in his fourth over bowled in the penultimate one of the innings. While Australia managed to slow England’s run-rate down in the final third of their innings, some late hitting from Chris Woakes (13 off 5) saw the visitors take some momentum into the AUS VS ENG MATCH.
With their first-choice bowlers rested from the opening match, Cameron Green (0-38 off 3) felt the brunt of Buttler early, as the world class opener stood still and played straight. Later, leg-spinner Mitch Swespon (0-31 off 2) was hit for six from his opening two deliveries by the wicket-keeper batter. Marcus Stoinis was greeted with not an ounce of respect in his first over back from injury, as the batting all-rounder was smashed for 21 from his opening over. Stoinis managed to pull it back a bit, taking 1-36 from his three overs.
Nonetheless, Warner kept finding the boundary and he found an alley in Stoinis, who belted 35 off 15 before skying one in his return from a side strain. Tim David came and went, with the powerful batter falling for his second duck in his past three innings as he failed to get on top of a short ball early in his innings. Wade threatened to be Australia’s saviour once again, but his dismissal ended their hopes with England sealing an important win upon their return Down Under AUS VS ENG.
Aaron Finch, the captain of Australia says that Nathan Ellis was outstanding, he bowled really well on a batting surface. Adds that the good thing is they got themselves into a winning position but the disappointing thing is that they could not finish it. Mentions that Ellis is a fantastic bowler, every time he gets an opportunity he makes full use of it. Further says that against great players it gets difficult to execute the plans.
On being asked about his batting position, he replies that they will keep trying new things, but he will get back on top in the next game. It was only about giving Green as many games as possible. AUS VS ENG matches have been great for the fans.
Australia has one of the best teams in all the formats and surely are the favourites to win the T20 World Cup 2022. It would be tough for the other teams to beat this mighty Australian side. AUS VS ENG would surely be a exciting game for all the cricket fans.
After India the team which I support the most is Australia, I had always felt that they had the potential to win outside Australia. In Overseas Condition, they did not have a great record against other teams. England and Australia had a great rivalry and an exciting one. England have raised their quality of standards in winning the competition against other teams and have become one of the best teams to win T20 World Cup 🏏.
