IPL 2021: DC vs CSK

Finalists of the last season of IPL, Delhi Capitals started their journey in this Season on a good note. They won comfortably against Chennai Super Kings. DC vs CSK are always nail-bitting fixtures and Rishabh Pant was captaining the team for the first time. CSK were off to a poor start after Dhoni lost the toss and elected them to bat first. They lost both their openers quite early. It was the partnerships of Raina- Moeen Ali, Raina-Rayudu and Sam Curran, Jadeja that helped them to put up 188 on the board.

On the Siblings day, Tam Curran ( Representing Delhi Capitals) and Sam Curran (Representing CSK) were playing against each other. Sam Curran hammered his brother for many sixes and Tam Curran’s 18th over was off 24 runs. Suresh Raina who missed the last season , made a fantastic comeback in the yellow jersey. His knock of 54 runs off 36 balls stabilised and set a good platform for Chennai. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was coming back to cricket after 160 days, but his stay at the crease lasted for only two balls. He was bowled by Avesh. Delhi Capitals were off to a good start as the bowling-duo Chris Woakes and Avesh Khan picked two early wickets of Du Plesis and Gaikwad.

There were contributions from several other batsmen like Moeen Ali (36 off 24 balls), Ambati Rayudu (23 off 16 balls), Ravindra Jadeja (26 off 17 balls) and Sam Curran 34 from 15 balls). Some late hitting despite losing wickets in the middle over helped Chennai reach 188-7. However, their bowling was not up to the mark and on the wicket where there wasn’t too much help for the bowlers anyway. CSK should change their captain because time has flown. DC vs CSK

Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan shared a record partnership of 138 runs for the opening wicket against Chennai Super Kings. There were scoring boundaries all-over the ground. CSK bowlers were tired off them and Dhoni was not able to do proper captaincy against Delhi Capitals. Last Year, CSK had issues on their batting and this time they have issues on their bowling. Swinging Bowlers are not able to perform according to their best. We had hopes from Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar, but they were not able to perform for the team.

I have always been a great supporter of RCB and DC. Whenever, they are low at the points table or finishing at the top of the table. I am a huge RCB fan and in the recent years when Delhi has changed their name from Daredevils to Capitals. After the name was changed, they have invested a lot on their players especially Indian talent is great in this team. DC vs CSK match was great.

We have cricketers across the world who are a part of this team. Rabada and Stonis had a preety good last Season for the team. The finalists for the first team, DC would be hoping for a another turn at the IPL, but winning the trophy this time and increasing their tally to 1. They would next play Rajasthan Royals on 15th April.

Turning Points :- Delhi Capitals started their bowling with the unlikely combination of Avesh Khan and Chris Woakes. However, the plan worked fantastically for them as the duo took early wickets and set the match DC vs CSK on fire. The partnership of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw played a crucial role for the team helping them to secure a 7-wicket win. Had Chennai were to good start, the score could have reach till 200 but the bowlers helped them a lot.

Way Ahead:- Delhi Capitals would be facing Rajasthan Royals on April 15 and CSK would be facing Punjab Kings on April 16, both the matches would be played at Mumbai.
