Ind vs Eng: Test match report

The series between India and England commenced from 5 February in Chennai. Both the teams have beaten their previous opponents Australia and Sri Lanka. England had whitewashed Sri Lanka 2-0 with Joe Root playing exceptionally for the team. He led the team very well and played a captain’s knock. On the Other hand, India played an iconic series against Australia and made a remarkable history in that series. They didn’t have experience in their side but end up winning the series 2-1 against the quality side Australia. On a hot and humid day, the match between India and England started and both the teams were looking good and were hoping to perform at their best. Ind vs Eng Series was very exceptional.

England had won the toss and elected to bat first. The surface was flat and Root make the right decision of batting first. He played an exceptional knock of 218 and the visitors played exceptionally and scored 578 runs. It was the first time that Jasprit Bumrah was playing a Test in India. I thought that the line-up of team India was not good as Kuldeep Yadav could have played the match and playing him would have been tough for the team. Ind vs Eng Series

England completely outplayed India and the lead in the first innings become a point of our defeat. On the other hand, India scored 337 in their first innings and Rishabh Pant played exceptionally scoring a massive 91. He had a support from other players like Washington Sundar and Pujara. Big Players like Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were unsuccessful in the first innings.

England got the lead, but in the second innings India cameback perfectly in the match and bowled out England for less runs and had the chance of drawing the match. Analyzing the second innings of team India, captain Kohli didn’t had the support of other players and the bowling of England was very exceptional. The turning point of the match came when English bowler James Anderson bowled his first over of the fifth day, that two wickets completely changed the game. The fireworks of Pant were missing from the second innings.

India’s top order was very weak in the first innings. England deserved that win and India should look to win the second Test at Ahmedabad. I thought that the Indian team was not playing like a unit and was just playing individually. India couldn’t repeat the feat that they had achieved against Australia. Virat Kohli’s captaincy is in danger and some media channels are also saying that if India lost the second match, he would be removed as a captain. India should give a tough fight to their opponents.

England is depending a lot on Joe Root and that’s why they didn’t perform in the Second innings. Ashwin was superb and he has always proved that he is a world class player and Indian condition suits him really well. I think some changes should be done in the Playing 11 of team India. They should drop Nadeem and give a chance to Kuldeep Yadav. I am looking forward to Ind vs Eng in the Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad. First time any test match would be happening there and it is a really special moment for all the cricket lovers across the world.

All the fans are disappointed with the performance of team India in this match. This series is really important as it would decide which team would play against New Zealand in the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. Indian players should work on playing swinging balls of James Anderson. There was a fight between Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav that was shown in the Television. BCCI would take strict actions in the matter.
