The Indian team can heave a sigh of relief as of now due to the fact that their middle-order looks sorted with Suryakumar Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, and Hardik Pandya to bolster their batting order. At the same time, not only is there a dearth of spinners but even the pacers’ availability is in abundance, and in short, there is a cut-throat competition in the bowling department which means that the players featuring in the playing XI in this series must make the most of their chances in all ways possible.
Unfortunately, there is bad news for the passionate cricket fans as rain is expected to play a spoilsport in the first T20I between Ireland and India. As per weather.com, the weather is neither promising nor looks pleasing for the game to happen as there is a 71% chance of rain in Dublin. The weather will be cloudy throughout the day in Dublin with the temperature around 13 degrees Celcius. Meanwhile, the humidity is expected to be on the higher side at 83%.
Despite losing early wickets, Tector and Lorcan Tucker kept their cool, and took Ireland to a challenging total. The match was earlier reduced to a 12 overs a side affair after rain had interrupted proceedings on several occasion. In the first match, the bowlers would get maximum support and thus the toss-winning captain would look to chase. Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to field first against Ireland in the first t20 match.
It was an international captaincy debut for Hardik Pandya and VVS Laxman is being appointed as the Head Coach of the side for the two games against Ireland. A dream come true moment!! Congratulations to Umran Malik who is all set to make his T20I debut for #TeamIndia. He was expensive in only the first over he bowled as he conceded 14 runs. It is just a starting process for him. s When he would play more matches, he would gain more experience.
Deepak Hooda and captain Hardik Pandya starred with the bat as India defeated Ireland in a rain-hit first T20I at the Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin. Chasing a target of 109, India chased down the total with 16 balls to spare, with Hooda smashing an unbeaten 47, after Hardik was dismissed on 24 (12). Earlier, Harry Tector scored an unbeaten 64 as Ireland managed to post a total of 108 for four in 12 overs against India. Chahal bowled exceptionally in the match and and only conceded 11 runs against Ireland.
The series once again will provide a platform for Ruturaj Gaikwad to present his talent and make a mark. The opener had a poor outing against South Africa, where he scored 96 runs in five innings at an average of under 20. However, he did not batted in the match against Ireland. India lost two consecutive wickets, as Surya Kumar Yadav was out in the first ball he faced. The series is also a good chance for newcomer Rahul Tripathi to make an instant mark. The right-handed batter has emerged to be one of the most promising talents in the IPL and will look forward to showing more of his potential at the international level.
It is a great learning process for all the team as Indian youngsters would get a chance to prove their mettle against Ireland. n a rather surprising move, Deepak Hooda came to open alongside Kishan in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad. He found his rhythm after a scratchy start and put up a match winning 64-run stand with Hardik. Just when it seemed Indian were running away with the contest, Craig Young got rid of Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav (0) in successive deliveries to raise hopes for his team. Kishan’s stumps were rattled in another attempt to get a full ball out of the park.
