Opinion: IPL Best Players

The 13th Edition of the IPL tournament concluded and ever-dominant Mumbai Indians clinched their fifth title. Delhi Capitals made it to the finals for the first time in this tournament. We witnessed new things in this tournament. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have always qualified for the play-offs and it was the first time in that season they failed to qualify for the play-offs and finished 7th on the points table. Due to Covid-19, we all thought that IPL would not happen but the Dubai Government helped BCCI to conduct the tournament. It was the third-time that a tournament was held in abroad. RCB perform to the expectations but lost the most importance match against SRH.

I would pick my best players of the tournament of IPL 2020. It is the most challenging task, given the plethora of the players that one has to pick from. I have picked a team, where the performances of the players have a impact on the team. This was a famous tournament in IPL history. IPL is the most-famous league across the world. Many foreign players have played the league. Some players like Maxwell are not performing in IPL but are performing for Australia. He is an exceptional case. Without further delay, here is our best players of the tournament.

1. Chris Gayle – Despite playing the tournament in the second-half, Gayle helped the team to win the matches. Kings X1 Punjab were losing matches badly and he guided the team really well and helped K.L. Rahul in his captaincy. Gayle batted exceptionally and missed on a well deserving ton. K.L. Rahul was the leading run-scorer, despite his exceptional performances I have not chosen him because of his slow strike-rate. Gayle is a true-match winner. He came out of retirement to play for West Indies.

• Shikhar Dhawan – He has played exceptionally well in this tournament. In the starting, he was not playing well but in the second-half he was the match-winner for Delhi Capitals. He was the first player to score back to back hundreds. Shikhar Dhawan would be opening with Chris Gayle in this team. Dhawan’s IPL with Delhi Capitals was superb as the team reached the final for the first time. He has scored 5000 runs in the Indian Premiere League (IPL).

• Ishaan Kishan – This IPL was superb for him. He guided Mumbai Indians to clinch their fifth title in the history of the tournament. His Knock against RCB was exceptional but MI lost on the super-over. He missed on a century in that knock. Ishan Kishan would play a major role in this team. He scored 500 runs in the IPL 2020 and became a true-match winner for MI. He was still not chosen to represent India against Australia.

• Suryakumar Yadav – Suryakumar Yadav made a stellar statement this season, more prominently against the skipper of the Indian national team in the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Yadav seems to have honed his skills and bettered his temperament as he enhanced to become more dependable and dynamic for the defending champions. Still he was not selected for the Indian national team. He would be playing for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Alli trophy. He has the ability to do wonders for team India. He should be selected to represent India Internationally.

• AB De Villiers – He is the top-performer for RCB this season. As usual, he is the IPL team of the season. De Villiers is the most-loved player across the world. His presence in this team would gave confidence to the youngsters. He would be captaining this team. RCB played exceptionally but lost in the important match of the tournament against SRH. De Villiers fits seamlessly in this lineup, and seems appropriate to carry forward the approach that this batting order would imbibe in the innings. He is my idol and I love his batting and keeping skills. He would be playing for South-Africa in T20 World Cup.

• Hardik Pandya – Hardik Pandya played exceptionally for MI and helping them to become the champions. He didn’t bowl but proved to be the best finisher in the tournament. His batting in the second half was exceptional. His fan-following is increasing. Mumbai Indians was playing like favourites from the starting of the tournament. Hardik Pandya would finish matches. He played brilliantly against Australia.
