Sanju Samson T20 World Cup 2022 Squad â The Indian squad for upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 was announced. As expected, fans favorite Sanju Samson failed to get a place in the T20 World Cup 2022 Squad. Samson also did not get a place in the Asia Cup 2022 squad. It has been quite unfair for Sanju as he was also ignored last year for the Indian T20 World Cup 2021 Squad.
Sanju Samson has not been included in any of the three squads. Letâ see Why Sanju Samson was not selected in Indiaâs T20 World Cup 2022 Squad?
Just like the last time, Samson failed to get a spot in the T20 WC squad again. The Rajasthan Royals skipper has scored 179 runs with an average of 44.75 in six T20Is this year. His last appearance in T20I international for India came at the tour to West Indies where he get to play in only two out of the five matches in the series. Samson also had a good IPL 2022 where he scored 458 runs in 17 games with a strike rate of 146.79.
The reason behind his omission is that he failed to perform when he got the opportunities. Deepak Hooda has been selected ahead of him because he made best out of the chances given to him. Samson is a middle order batsman and the middle order of India Playing 11 is already set. Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant are the regular starters of Indian team. Even if Samson was selected in Indiaâs Squad for T20 World Cup 2022, then also he will not get a chance to feature in the playing 11.
Fans are still hoping to see the beginning of Sanju Samson T20 World Cup journey. It was quite unfair because he didnât even get a place in the reserves this time. India lost in the Semi-finals against England in the T20 World Cup 2022. Rishabh Pant is having a bad time in his career, he is not able to score bif runs for the team. There is also a debate regarding giving more and more chances to Pant and not to Samson. Samsonâs fanbase has been built on his IPL career but his natural ability has been absent more often than not whenever heâs donned the India kit.
There is no doubt that Sanju Samson is a talented player but he need to find his form when he wears the Indian jersey. He might be a tremendous player in the IPL but there will always be a difference between domestic cricket and international cricket, and itâs one Samson is yet to leap across.
It is tough to be in Sanju Samsonâs shoes at the moment. The Kerala cricketer has done everything to be part of the starting XI of the Indian team, but unfortunately, something or the other has kept on denying him a place in the playing XI. Sanju Samson came to limelight with his stellar performances in the Indian Premier League for Rajasthan Royals in 2013. The 25-year old remains the youngest batsman to score 1000 runs in the IPL. Since then, he has continued to be the solid performer for his IPL franchises and Kerala in the domestic circuit.
All the players have got the management backing and performed for the team in tough times. Shreyas Iyer has evolved as the mainstay of the team in the middle-order while Rishabh Pant got the reputation of turning the tables with his breezy knocks in the middle. With Shivam Dube, there is always an advantage of his fast bowling, which can be used in the middle overs by the skipper.
Team Managementâs lack of belief in Samson:
Unfortunately, Sanju Samson is yet to get the trust of the team management. It is mainly because of his inconsistency in the domestic tournaments. Though Sanju Samson possesses extraordinary skills, he has always failed to score those runs consistently. One of the primary examples is his performances in the Indian Premier League. Over the years, he has never had that breakthrough season, which would help him to push his case forward. Often, the stylish stroke-maker would start an IPL season with a flurry of impressive scores, only to fizzle out as the tournament progressed. Perhaps, it would have denied the management to build trust in him.
Pant factor is massive behind the exclusion of Sanju Samson from the playing XI. Looking at the positives, being a left-hander, Rishabh Pant brings variety to the batting lineup in the middle-order. He can be the finisher for the team in the absence of MS Dhoni as well. Besides that, he is one of the few batsmen, who can straightaway attack the bowlers during crunch moments of the game.
He (Samson) is a very exciting player to watch but since we went with a different combination, as of now, we weren’t able to play him, said Hardik Pandya. In fact, the press asked him why he didn’t play Sanju Samson. Hardik Pandya replied in Thala Dhoni style. He said my room door will always be open, any player can come and have a conversation with me. It was very good to see him speak with such clarity l.
In fact, I don’t know if he wanted to say that in Thala Dhoni style because we all know Hardik is super close to Thala Dhoni. And he had earlier said that he has learnt a lot from Thala Dhoni. He handled a tricky question that is always trending on social media very beautifully. So kudos to Hardik,” Ashwin said. “Overall you have to see the larger picture and who is your match winner. You analyse and your decisions are based on that,” Dhawan told in the post-match conference after the final game was washed out due to rain. Â
“Of course, Sanju Samson has been doing really well in whatever opportunity he got. But sometimes you got to wait for your chances, because the other player has done well and we know based on his (Pant’s) skill that he’s a match-winner. So, you need to back him when he’s not doing well,” Dhawan said in an interview after India lost the recent One-Day Series against New Zealand.
